1. A student has 12 days from the first day of the season to practice with a team, without consequence, if they decide to leave the team.
2. Any student who leaves a team after the 12 day “grace period” will become ineligible to participate in ANY sport for a one year period of time (365 days); beginning the date that he\she leaves team.
The Athletic Periods for Grapevine Faith are as follows:
4th period for high school boys
5th period for high school girls
8th period for 7th and 8th grade athletes
1. The athletic period is considered a class period and will be treated as such. All students must attend their respective athletic period each day. Any student who participates in a sport at Grapevine Faith must be in an athletic period.
The only exception will be for life time sports which are:
Cross Country, Tennis, Swimming, Golf
2. Any student who needs to make up or complete academic class work must receive written permission from their respective principal and submit that written permission to the Coach in charge.
3. Injured students will be excused from participating in their athletic period for ONE DAY with a parent note. Injured students MUST have a written doctor’s note to be excused from participating in their athletic period for an extended amount of time. Students will also need a doctor’s “release” note before they are allowed to rejoin the athletic period. Injured students will still be required to “dress out” and be with the rest of the class. Students who do not have a parent note or a doctor’s note will be required to participate in their athletic period.
4. If a student is ill they should remain at home as outlined in the student handbook.
5. Students must be in attendance at school for at least 5 class periods to participate in a game scheduled for that day.
6. Jr High PE grades start at 100. A student can maintain that grade by dressing out in appropriate uniform each day. A one point deduction will occur each time the student fails to wear their:
PE shirt
PE shorts
tennis shoes
Please note that one point is taken off for EACH item of PE uniform not worn. A student can lose 3 points each day for not having appropriate uniform on in PE class.
Each athlete is given a number. (Student’s number can be found on the class roster located next to the attendance pocket charts.) Index cards with the individual numbers are placed in attendance pocket charts on the wall. These pocket charts are conveniently located in the field house locker rooms, gymnasiums, and weight room. Students are required to turn their number card over at the beginning of each athletic period before beginning a team practice or joining the off season program. Attendance is taken and recorded in Renweb at the beginning of the athletic period.
If an athlete is tardy or forgets to turn their attendance card they are counted absent. Due to the large number of students in athletic periods, time does not permit absences to be changed after being recorded in Renweb. Once marked absent, students are required to present a parent/teacher note to Mrs. Hill to have the absence changed in Renweb.
The Athletic Department is here to come along side parents in the raising of their child according to the Biblical standard. We will do whatever it takes in working with parents to achieve that goal. If an issue or conflict ever arises, please give due diligence to the department communication protocol:
1. Question your child for clarification.
Remember the “24 hour” rule: Please wait 24 hours before approaching a coach either in person, by phone or through email. This allows all involved a “cooling down” period and also provides for a time for reflection and prayer.
2. Speak directly to the person in authority.
3. Speak with the Head Coach of the team.
4. Speak with the Head Coach of the program.
5. Speak with the Athletic Director.
At the junior high level every player will play in every game unless a player fails to maintain expectations regarding behavior, academics, or practice attendance. It is not required that each player play the same amount of time.
At the high school level, playing time is 100% at the coach’s discretion and is never negotiable.
More information regarding this subject can be found on our “Athletic Philosophy” page.

The three forms beow are required byTAPPS to be completed and on file in the athletic department before a student may participate in any practice or game in a specific sport. Please complete and turn in to the athletic office:
TAPPS Physical & Pre Participation Forms- 3 pages
TAPPS Acknowledgment of Rules Form- 2 pages The box in the middle of page one can be confusing.
If you have a returning student simply check the first box that states your child did not transfer from another high school.
If your child is new to Faith and will play at the high school level, you will need to check the second box and initial the box next to the first season in which your child will participate. You will also need to initial the last sentence in the box regarding “following a coach”.
If you are new and your child will not compete at a varsity level (ie- grades 7 or 8) you do not need to complete this box.
